What if: Anti-disciplinary design class

Interaction designer, Prototyper

Betweeen 2016-2017 I had the opportunity to teach as assistant in the same Politecnico's class that I've attended few years before, where along with a branding design project students have to design and prototype the user experience of a stand in a exhibition. That year the theme was anonymous design object (like scissors, umbrella, hummer, etc.); starting from that students had to build the brand and imagine an interactive installation to engage visitors, present the product and convey the brand values. I helped the students to design and develop a feasible prototype.

A lot of interesting ideas came out, and students were able to learn tough processes like electronics programming and creative coding from scratch. Below a prototype of the installation for the brand producing clothes peg, it consist in a game similar to guitar hero as mechanism, where instead of playing a guitar you push on pegs while capturing clothes falling down visualized on the screen.

Another group had the pencil as object and came up with an exhibit that allows you to sonify the movements of your drawing, thanks to an accelerometer connected to the graphite of the pencil

At the end of the course the projects where so well made that we decided to organize an exhibition in Opendot to show the results of the class, here some pictures.
